The Galtzada vineyard in the village of Lanciego was planted in 1952. With different Garnacha clones. The harvest is done manually. The grapes were then fermented in two small, open wooden containers. Extraction is light without excessive color extraction. The wine is then aged in a 1,500-liter Austrian oak barrel for 9 months in order to maximize the expression of the vineyard. The aim is to understand and respect the expression of this unique vineyard, without excessive use of new oak or oxidative aging. Aromas of red and black fruits with hints of herbs and sweet spices. In the mouth it has a medium body with also medium acidity which makes it a balanced wine that will wonderfully accompany chorizos, lamb, pot roasts and game.

Manual harvesting adds to the complexity and personality of the Cofrades vineyard. The type and length of aging is different for each vintage, using a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks and aging in small and large oak barrels. Cofrades is one of the vineyards in the village of Leza. Planted in 1945 with a wonderful varietal and clonal blend, it is mainly Tempranillo, with co-plantings of Viura, Malvasia Riojana, Jaen, Mencia, Benedicto, Morate, Garnacha and Graciano. All varieties are harvested at the same time and vinified together to preserve the personality of Cofrades. Black cherries, blackberries, herbs and spices with hints of minerality. Its body is medium, as is its acidity. Go with game, spicy cold meats and recipes with lamb and pork.

The "Finca El Grajo Viejo" (old vineyard), is strategically located at the foot of the Manvirgo hill between Anguix & Roa, at an altitude of 815 meters and facing south. The Seleccion El Grajo Viejo (single vineyard) is the cream of Protos wines. Produced from 100% Tinta del Pais from a single 70 year old vineyard. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in 500 liter French barrels at a controlled temperature and is then left to mature for 18 months in new French barrels and 12 months in the bottles.

It has a deep purple color with purple hues and is an elegant wine, with good aromatic range and great complexity. More specifically, the aromatic bouquet consists of extremely ripe black fruits, mocha, spices and finally some balsamic and mineral notes. In the mouth it is delicious full bodied but with fine and elegant tannins, with the acidity of the vines grown on poor land bringing the balance. Long, pleasant, slightly salty and persistent finish and great aging potential due to its structured tannins and noble acidity. Enjoy it with roast pork, red meat, chorizos, foie gras and mature cheeses.

Protos Reserva is an elegant wine, complex, with an intense character that will surely leave a mark on whoever tastes it. Produced from 100% Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo). After fermentation, it matures for 18 months in French and American barrels and then 24 months in bottles.

It has a dark cherry color with grainy highlights and has an intense nose of raspberry, licorice, vanilla, spices, salty fruit and herbal notes, such as lavender. In the mouth it has good acidity, with an excellent balance of fruit and wood, and the aftertaste is long and persistent. Accompany it with smoked fish, red meat and truffle dishes.

Protos Gran Reserva is a wonderful wine, easy to drink, with notes of fruit both on the nose and in the mouth and a very complex aromatic bouquet produced from 60 year old Tempranillo. After vinification, it matures for 24 months in French and American barrels -mostly new- and then rests for 36 months in bottle.

It has a dark cherry color with grainy highlights and on the nose it is expressive and complex. The bouquet is complex with jam, cocoa, smoke, mineral notes, aromatic herbs and a light sense of wet earth, while in the mouth it is elegant with round tannins and a long aftertaste. It has good aging potential and can be enjoyed with Veal, Rib Eye, Lamb Ribs and Beef Wellington.

Protos Crianza makes you taste the "terroir" of Ribera del Duero in every sip, taking you on a journey through a timeless region. Produced from 30 and 35-year-old Tempranillo grapes from the Burgos and Valladolid vineyards, its fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks and its maturation lasts 12 months in French and American barrels and 12 months in the bottle.

This is a cherry-colored wine with purple highlights that suggest youth. The nose is dominated by a high aromatic intensity, with aromas of ripe fruit well integrated with aromas of tobacco, sweet spices and pleasant toasted notes. It is a wine with well-integrated tannins, complex, tasty, balanced, full-bodied and elegant. Finally, the aftertaste is reminiscent of ripe fruit. Accompany it with grilled vegetables and meat, carpaccio and charcuterie such as jamon iberico.

Protos '27 with the original label from the first bottle ever released by Protos, is a tribute to those 11 visionaries who founded Protos in 1927. It is produced from 100% Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo) from old vineyards of Burgos province which were planted 50 years ago. After fermentation, it matures for 16 months in new French barrels and 12 months in bottles.

It has an intense red color with violet hues, it is elegant, with fresh aromas of ripe black fruits, sweet spices, vanilla, cedar and coconut. In the mouth it is medium-bodied, a very balanced and easy-drinking wine, with round tannins, a long and very pleasant aftertaste. Enjoy it with BBQ, lamb, stews and even seafood with strong red sauces.
