Tedeschi Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone 2016 0.75L

Monte Olmi is the name of this vineyard, located in Pedemonte di Valpolicella in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. The vineyard is terraced to ensure efficient drainage in case of heavy rainfall. At the same time, the depth and clay in the soil serve to retain water during the dry season. Since the early 60s, Renzo Tedeschi had the idea to vinify the grapes from the Monte Olmi vineyard separately, thus creating one of the first single vineyard wines in Valpolicella. Today Monte Olmi is the symbol of the estate and its territory.

Its color is intense ruby and its aromas are reminiscent of blackberries, spices and flowers combined with notes of Slavonian oak. In the mouth it is full, peppery, fruity, with moderate tannins and a fine aftertaste. The aftertaste confirms its floral character and is persistent. It is a suitable wine for aging which you can enjoy with red meat, game and aged cheeses.

An den Achtmorgen is the first GG Pinot Noir. The plot is the heart of the equestrian trail in the Ruppertsberg and with the dense planting of Burgundy Pinot varieties in 2009. The sandstone and limestone in the soil and the sheltered location at the foot of the Haardt make this plot excellent for Pinot Noir. Since 2018 it is now also classified as GG. The wine is bright ruby with slight violet highlights. Manual harvesting adds to the complexity and personality of the Cofrades vineyard. The type and length of aging is different for each vintage, using a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks and aging in small and large oak barrels. Cofrades is one of the vineyards in the village of Leza. Planted in 1945 with a wonderful varietal and clonal blend, it is mainly Tempranillo, with co-plantings of Viura, Malvasia Riojana, Jaen, Mencia, Benedicto, Morate, Garnacha and Graciano. All varieties are harvested at the same time and vinified together to preserve the personality of Cofrades. Black cherries, blackberries, herbs and spices with hints of minerality. Its body is medium, as is its acidity. Go with game, spicy cold meats and recipes with lamb and pork.

The "Finca El Grajo Viejo" (old vineyard), is strategically located at the foot of the Manvirgo hill between Anguix & Roa, at an altitude of 815 meters and facing south. The Seleccion El Grajo Viejo (single vineyard) is the cream of Protos wines. Produced from 100% Tinta del Pais from a single 70 year old vineyard. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in 500 liter French barrels at a controlled temperature and is then left to mature for 18 months in new French barrels and 12 months in the bottles.

It has a deep purple color with purple hues and is an elegant wine, with good aromatic range and great complexity. More specifically, the aromatic bouquet consists of extremely ripe black fruits, mocha, spices and finally some balsamic and mineral notes. In the mouth it is delicious full bodied but with fine and elegant tannins, with the acidity of the vines grown on poor land bringing the balance. Long, pleasant, slightly salty and persistent finish and great aging potential due to its structured tannins and noble acidity. Enjoy it with roast pork, red meat, chorizos, foie gras and mature cheeses.
