Afianes Pithari Red is a unique dry red wine from Ikaria, aged in traditional amphorae. Its opaque, tile-like color with orange highlights and its rich legs reveal its distinct character. The nose is dominated by aromas of ripe wild berries and cherry, while the palate reveals a complex flavor profile with notes of sour cherry, wild cherry, and intense minerality, finishing with a taste of wet granite. Perfect for a get-together with friends, it pairs beautifully with sweet and sour dishes, meat with wild greens, rabbit stew, giouvetsi, stuffed vegetables (gemista), dolmades, and the traditional Ikarian soufiko. Serve it at 16-18°C.
