Leipsi Aktaion is a powerful dry red wine combining the local Fokiano grape with the international Syrah. Aged for twelve months in French oak barrels, it gains depth and character. The nose offers concentrated aromas of forest fruits, blackberries, and blueberries, with notes of vanilla and pepper. The palate is full-bodied, with rich tannins and a long finish.It pairs perfectly with grilled meats, stews, and fatty fish like tuna. It also goes well with yellow cheeses. Avoid light dishes that would be overpowered. Serve at 16-18°C.

On the slope of a low hill, above a vineyard and the Aegean in the background, the winery, which began its operation in 2013, is built on two levels, whose decoration refers to the traditional aesthetics of the island. The vineyards of the winery spread over an area of ??45 acres, where the Fokiano, Assyrtiko, Athiri, Mandilaria and Syrah varieties are cultivated. Fokiano is a rare, robust variety, resistant to diseases and drought which gives a rich color and a nice bouquet. It is one of the ancient "native" varieties, which owes its name to the city of Phocaea in Asia Minor and, according to tradition, the island wine was a gift from the God Dionysus.
