Afianes Icarus is a distinguished dry red wine from Ikaria, aged in French oak barrels. Its deep, fiery ruby color hints at a powerful wine experience. The nose is complex, full of aromas of ripe wild red berries and warm notes from the French oak. On the palate, it is rich, with soft tannins and a flavorful climax that brings to the forefront notes of sour cherry and blackberry. The finish is smooth and long-lasting. An elegant white wine from Sauvignon Blanc, hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed, and fermented in concrete before aging 5 months in oak barrels with lees stirring. Aromas of lime, gooseberry, yellow apple, pear, herbs, and chalk. On the palate, fresh and mineral with notes of herbs like fennel and nuts. Medium-bodied and crisp, this wine pairs beautifully with white fish, roasted chicken, sushi, asparagus, and fresh cheeses like goat cheese or feta. It is produced in the Etna DOC area (Rovittello-Contrada Dafara Galluzzo) from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes that are harvested by hand in mid-October at an altitude of 700 m.
