Averna Amaro was created in 1868 for Salvatore Averna, by the monks of San Spirito Abbey in Caltanissetta and is the first officially recognized, drink of Sicily. Averna Amaro secret recipe has been passed down from generation to generation, while each of its production phases is strictly controlled in order to guarantee the authenticity of the ingredients and the high quality of the product. It is still produced in Sicily today with the same procedures and of course the same secret recipe.

The real name of this Spanish liqueur is "Cuarenta Y Tres", however it is widely known as "Licor 43". Licor 43 is a liqueur with a harmonious taste profile which composes 43 ingredients. It comes from a secret recipe of the Zamora family of Spain which has existed for 70 years.
